As a 3rd Line IP Network Support Engineer, you will provide advanced technical support and operational expertise across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, managed firewall, and wireless network environments. Acting as a senior escalation resource, you will troubleshoot complex technical issues, coordinate with customers and third-party vendors, and ensure timely resolution of service-impacting incidents. The role involves supporting business-critical network infrastructure, implementing upgrades and changes, maintaining operational stability, and driving continuous service improvement. You will work closely with service desk teams, NOC engineers, customers, and technology partners to ensure excellent service delivery across diverse enterprise environments. This position is ideal for networking professionals with strong routing, switching, wireless, and security expertise who enjoy solving challenging technical problems within a fast-paced managed services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd line technical support for complex IP networking environments.
- Act as a senior escalation point for network-related incidents and service requests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, wireless, and managed firewall issues.
- Support enterprise network infrastructure across multi-vendor environments.
- Manage and maintain Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Meraki network technologies.
- Diagnose routing, switching, wireless, and security-related issues.
- Implement network upgrades, maintenance activities, and infrastructure changes.
- Perform root cause analysis and contribute to problem management activities.
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal technical teams to resolve incidents.
- Ensure infrastructure availability, performance, and operational resilience.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles.
- Support service improvement initiatives and operational best practices.
- Participate in out-of-hours support activities when required.
- Maintain compliance with operational processes, SLAs, and change management procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience within a Service Desk, NOC, ISP, MSP, or SME networking environment.
- Strong hands-on experience supporting enterprise IP networking infrastructure.
- Advanced knowledge of routing and switching technologies.
- Experience supporting SD-WAN environments.
- Strong understanding of LAN and WAN technologies.
- Experience managing enterprise wireless network environments.
- Hands-on firewall administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with Cisco networking technologies.
- Experience supporting Juniper networking environments.
- Experience managing Fortinet firewalls and security solutions.
- Experience working with Cisco Meraki network solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple incidents and priorities simultaneously.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Relevant networking certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, NSE, or equivalent.
- Experience within managed service provider environments.
- Knowledge of network automation and scripting.
