Detailed Job Description

As a 3rd Line IP Network Engineer supporting our managed service provider client through Aspirecom in London, you will take full operational, tactical, and technical ownership of complex IP network maintenance, senior escalation troubleshooting, and infrastructure upgrades across diverse enterprise estates. Your day-to-day responsibilities include acting as the senior escalation point for SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, managed firewall, and wireless issues, collaborating closely with enterprise customers and third-party vendors to resolve critical incidents, maintaining and supporting core MPLS and IP network infrastructures, troubleshooting intricate routing and switching faults, supporting planned changes and network upgrades, and participating in scheduled out-of-hours maintenance work where required. You will utilize your proactive troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills to resolve complex network anomalies under strict service level agreements. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert 3rd line technical support and senior escalation engineering across complex customer and core MPLS network environments.




• Act as the primary senior technical escalation point for advanced SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, managed firewall, and wireless incidents.




• Maintain, monitor, and support robust IP network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security compliance.




• Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, and multi-vendor connectivity issues across Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Meraki platforms.




• Support scheduled network upgrades, infrastructure expansions, software patch deployments, and change implementation workflows.




• Collaborate seamlessly with enterprise customers, internal service desk agents, and external third-party vendor partners.




• Participate in out-of-hours on-call support rotas and scheduled maintenance windows where required for high-availability estates.




• Maintain meticulous documentation of network topologies, incident resolution runbooks, change requests, and configuration backups.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.




• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive professional experience within a Service Desk, Network Operations Center (NOC), ISP, or MSP environment.




• Strong, demonstrable hands-on networking background with solid theoretical knowledge and practical mastery of routing, switching, and wireless technologies.




• Deep practical proficiency in enterprise SD-WAN deployments, managed firewalls, and multi-vendor network architectures.




• Comprehensive working knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Meraki hardware platforms and operating systems.




• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving capabilities under mission-critical network conditions.




• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with strong customer-facing stakeholder management abilities.




• Mandatory UK residency and physical ability to commute regularly to the London office for hybrid work operations.

• Professional networking certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCIP), or Fortinet NSE 4/7.
