Our client is a fast-scaling, well-funded technology company building a platform used by some of the UK's best-known brands. They're now looking for a hands-on Technical Team Lead to drive the next phase of their engineering evolution. This is a rare opportunity to own a major platform migration, influence long-term technical strategy, and step into a leadership role with a clear progression path toward CTO as the business scales.

If you love building high-quality software at scale, leading talented engineers, and making meaningful architectural decisions - this role is for you.

The Opportunity

As Technical Team Lead, you'll combine around 60% hands-on coding with strong technical leadership. You'll guide a growing team of engineers, define engineering standards, and work closely with partner agencies to deliver a modern, scalable SaaS platform. You'll also play a pivotal role in a strategic migration away from legacy Service Fabric architecture toward a Kubernetes-based backend, helping to define the future technical foundation of the entire product suite. This is a high-impact role where your decisions will genuinely shape the company's technology and growth trajectory.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading and mentoring a team of 3-6 engineers, with significant growth planned
  • Remaining deeply hands-on, contributing ~60% of your time to coding
  • Defining and owning the technical strategy for the Connect 2.0 platform migration
  • Architecting scalable backend systems using Kubernetes
  • Driving modern frontend development with React
  • Setting engineering standards and best practices across internal teams and partner agencies
  • Making key decisions across architecture, integrations, frameworks, and cloud infrastructure
  • Collaborating closely with product and leadership to influence roadmap and direction
  • Helping build a secure, high-performance, modern SaaS platform

What You'll Bring

  • Strong engineering background across backend (Kubernetes) and frontend (React)
  • Experience leading teams or mentoring engineers in a senior capacity
  • Proven experience designing, building, and scaling modern SaaS platforms
  • Solid cloud experience (Azure preferred)
  • Ability to translate business goals into scalable technical solutions
  • Confident communicator who works well across teams and with external partners
  • Pragmatic, hands-on mindset with a passion for quality engineering
  • Architectural experience - or clear ambition to move into a broader strategic role

Tech Stack

  • Backend: Kubernetes, C#, .NET
  • Frontend: React, JavaScript
  • Infrastructure: Azure, Cosmos DB, modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Legacy: Service Fabric (during transition only)

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Ownership of one of the company's most strategic technical initiatives
  • Real autonomy and influence over engineering and product direction
  • A growing team with clear leadership responsibility
  • Defined progression toward a CTO-level role
  • Well-funded, scaling business with strong momentum
  • Hybrid working: 2-3 days per week in a London office
  • Competitive salary: £90,000-£110,000 + strong benefits
