Job description:

Childcare Apprenticeship – Level 2 – The Early Years Nursery

The Aspire Training Team are seeking a motivated, reliable and enthusiastic individual as an apprentice to complete their Level 2 Childcare qualification with The Early Years Nursery.

Ethos

Emmi Pikler )

Emmi Pikler was a Hungarian paediatrician who introduced new ideas into infant education and introduced them in practice at an orphanage she ran. Nowadays, many professionals all over the world are learning and applying the Pikler educational and developmental concepts.

The Pikler Approach is based on a respectful relationship between adults and children. This is developed through tender care moments, a naturally paced motor development, free movement and carefully responded to play moments.

The relationship created between the adult and the child is key. Dr Pikler’s approach and choreography for the creation of that peaceful, trust-filled relationship. It is what makes her work genius.

The adult in the relationship acknowledges the child as a free and equal human being, an equal partner in the relationship. The relationship creates a safe place for the child. The relationship heals separation and trauma.

In the relationship, the adult does everything with the child not to the child. This means:

1. Complete freedom of movement, we value independent activity and free play
2. The outstanding importance of tactful and respectful care giving routines mean the child gets the full attention of the carer, building a trustful relationship between adult and child.
3. The value of a special, favoured, active relationship with the key person
4. The necessity of fostering the child’s awareness of itself and the environment around them
5. The importance of good physical health within all our nursery routines to ensure children thrive within the setting
6. Babies are never put into a position which they cannot get into by themselves. They have uninterrupted time for free play using a variety of sensory resources. adults who care for babies are experienced in tuning into the cues that they send out all the time, as with all the children in the nursery babies are treated in a respectful way

Alongside this approach, safeguarding is our priority at the nursery. All staff are trained and understand their safeguarding responsibility to the children.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Respect the confidentiality of all information received and adhere to the nursery’s safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities policies.
  • Understand the high profile of the nursery and uphold its standards at all times.
  • Be flexible in hours and duties to meet the needs of the nursery.
  • Assist in creating an inclusive, culturally sensitive environment that supports children’s individual needs.
  • Show a commitment to learning by actively researching the Pikler approach, attending training, and applying trauma-informed practices under supervision.
  • Liaise with mentors and colleagues to seek feedback and guidance for continuous improvement
  • Requirements;

  • You must be able to gain a clear DBS
  • GCSE\’s A*-C in English Language and Maths, or equivalent i.e functional skills.
  • Hours;

  • The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week, with shift patterns to be discussed
