Management Accountant

Permanent Role

Salary: £46,674 to £53,569 per annum. Location: Manchester City Centre. Hybrid working: 1 to 2 days per week in the office. Monday to Friday – full time hours.

We're recruiting on behalf of a respected public sector organisation that supports strategic investment and long‑term economic growth across the North of England. This role offers an opportunity to be a trusted financial partner, providing high‑quality management accounting, budgeting and reporting support while driving continuous improvement across financial systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts, financial reports and budget monitoring information.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Provide financial analysis and business partnering support across departments.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee transactional finance activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and reconciliations.
  • Support cash‑flow management and treasury activities.
  • Assist with year‑end processes, external audits and statutory reporting.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of finance systems, controls and reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation on business improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Recognised accounting qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or actively studying towards qualification.
  • Strong management accounting experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge.
  • Experience producing meaningful financial reports and insights for stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills to explain financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues.
  • Collaborative approach and ability to build effective working relationships across an organisation.

Public sector experience is advantageous but not essential. Experience of working with SME’s is highly preferred.
