Facilities Operative Manchester City Centre Tuesday to Saturday 6.15am to 2.15pm Must have Full UK Driving Licence Temp to perm term time only 38 weeks per year
One of Manchesters leading Universities is recruiting a Facilities Operative. The Facilities Operative will be working as part of the Facilities team to provide a professional, customer focussed, compliant and cost effective FM service to support core University objectives including: compliance inspections and maintenance, portering, waste management and parcel duties. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Repairs : Carry out minor fix-ups like unblocking sinks, patching walls, changing lightbulbs, or fixing furniture using basic tools. Porterage & Setup : Move heavy furniture, deliver mail or parcels across campus, and set up lecture halls for exams or conferences. Driving equipment in a university van across campus. Compliance & Safety : Conduct routine checks on fire alarms, report structural defects, and ensure compliance with health and safety (COSHH) rules. General Upkeep : Assist with external grounds care, litter picking, pressure washing, and waste or recycling disposal. Security & Access : Help open or lock campus buildings and sign in external contractors. Requirements & Qualifications Experience : Background in a customer-facing, hands-on estates or cleaning environment. Physical Fitness : Capable of heavy lifting and manual handling tasks. Driving Licence : requires a full, UK driving licence to operate university vehicles between sites. Soft Skills : Good communication, reliability, and a proactive "can-do" attitude.
