The Role: We are looking for an experienced Skills Development Tutor specialising in Electrical Installation to join an established education and skills team. The role focuses on developing and delivering high quality training that helps learners build the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to progress. You will work with apprentices and adult learners, designing engaging curriculum content, assessing progress and supporting individuals to achieve positive outcomes.
Duties:
- Deliver face-to-face and blended training, planning a logical and engaging curriculum that supports the development of electrical knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- Assess learner work, provide clear feedback and agree development objectives with learners and employers.
- Visit apprentices in the workplace to review progress and ensure they stay on track.
- Set meaningful targets based on accurate starting points, track progress and support timely achievement.
- Use learner and employer feedback to help improve the curriculum and overall training offer.
- Manage safeguarding concerns, follow health and safety procedures and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Take part in open days, employer engagement events and internal quality assurance activities.
- Carry out ongoing professional development to maintain vocational and teaching knowledge.
Required Skills:
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to coach, motivate and create engaging learning materials.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and digital learning systems.
- At least five years vocational experience in electrical installation and at least five years experience in teaching, learning and assessment within the electrical sector, holding an AM2 qualification.
- Understanding of OFSTED expectations and experience delivering high quality education.
- D32/D33 or A1 qualification (essential), with D34 or V1 desirable.
- Up-to-date electrical installation knowledge and awareness of health and safety responsibilities.
- Motivating, supportive approach and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Due to the nature of this role, you will need access to your own vehicle and you will be required to complete an online Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if successful in this role.
