Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of a range of projects while taking ownership and responsibility for managing their own projects and tasks.

The successful candidate will be expected to operate with a high level of competency and independence, with minimal supervision required.

While Project Management is not a core element of the position, there may be occasions where Project Management duties are required depending on the scope of services being delivered.

The role reports to the Directors.

Key

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, timely and accurate information, advice and reports to senior colleagues, external clients and the Board.
  • Support management with the day-to-day management and delivery of assigned projects.
  • Actively manage deadlines and report progress to supervisors as required.
  • Follow the organisation’s quality assurance procedures across all projects.
  • Ensure approved standard documentation is used when presenting information externally.
  • Attend, contribute to and minute meetings, including countrywide and international meetings where required.
  • Carry out site visits and inspections.
  • Work across multiple projects where applicable and effectively manage and coordinate competing workloads.
  • Undertake relevant training as required by the organisation.
  • Demonstrate effective project management skills across all responsibilities.
  • Complete weekly timesheets and meet or exceed required billable efficiencies.
  • Prepare cost feasibilities, approximate estimates, cost plans, Bills of Quantities, specifications and Schedules of Rates in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Prepare and administer procurement advice, tenders, tender reviews and associated recommendations.
  • Prepare and administer various forms of contract involving consultants and contractors.
  • Prepare and administer interim valuations, contractors’ claims and final account settlements.
  • Prepare and maintain standard cost databases and cost profiles.
  • Manage effective change control during both pre-contract and post-contract stages.
  • Review and agree contract variations with contractors.
  • Prepare financial reviews tailored to client requirements.
  • Prepare interim valuations throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Prepare and agree final accounts.
  • Provide contract and dispute-related advice.
  • Carry out the role of Employer’s Agent where required.
  • Undertake additional duties relevant to the services provided where required.

Essential

Requirements

  • Ideally 3–5 years’ relevant Quantity Surveying experience.
  • Ability to manage projects and tasks independently without requiring ongoing supervision.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to prepare cost plans, estimates, Bills of Quantities, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Experience of procurement, tendering and contract administration.
  • Ability to carry out site visits and inspections as required.
  • Commitment to studying towards and achieving MRICS professional qualification.
  • Full, clean driving licence appropriate to the location.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in accordance with relevant Health & Safety, quality assurance and organisational policies.

Desirable

  • Experience carrying out Employer’s Agent duties.
  • Experience providing contract and dispute advice.
  • Experience undertaking Project Management responsibilities alongside Quantity Surveying duties.

Package: • Salary: £45,000–£50,000 • 37.5 hours per week • Monday to Friday • Office-based role • Ad-hoc site visits required
