We are currently recruiting experienced School Caretakers to support a range of Primary, Secondary, and SEND schools across the Telford area. These hands-on roles are suited to reliable, proactive individuals who can take full responsibility for site management and maintenance in busy school environments and who are confident working independently from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and closing the school site, ensuring security of the premises at all times
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks
- Monitoring and maintaining health & safety standards across the site
- Conducting regular site checks, risk assessments, and reporting hazards
- Managing contractors on-site and overseeing works where required
- Ensuring cleanliness and general upkeep of buildings and outdoor areas
- Supporting with porterage, room setups, and school events
- Maintaining heating, lighting, and alarm systems
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a School Caretaker or Site Supervisor is essential
- Strong understanding of health & safety regulations within a school setting
- Ability to carry out general maintenance and repair work independently
- Good communication skills and a professional approach
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage workload effectively
Important Information
- No training will be provided – candidates must be experienced and able to hit the ground running
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred
- Candidates without a DBS must be willing to obtain and pay for their own Enhanced DBS
