A well-established school is seeking an experienced Kitchen Assistant / School Caterer to join its catering team and support the delivery of a high-quality, compliant and efficient school food service.

This is a busy, fast-paced school kitchen and the successful candidate must be able to step into the role with prior school catering experience and a strong understanding of working within an educational setting.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the preparation, cooking and service of meals in a school environment
  • Assisting with food preparation in line with set menus and portion control requirements
  • Serving pupils and staff in a professional and friendly manner
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen and dining areas
  • Following food safety, allergen and health & safety procedures at all times
  • Supporting stock control, deliveries and basic kitchen administration as required
  • Working effectively as part of a school catering team to meet service times and operational demands
The successful candidate will:
  • Have previous experience working within a school kitchen or educational catering setting
  • Hold a good working knowledge of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health & safety procedures
  • Be reliable, organised and able to work efficiently under pressure during service times
  • Be confident working with children and within a safeguarding-led environment
  • Be able to follow instructions, menus and procedures accurately
  • Be able to start work and perform effectively with minimal supervision

Important information: This role is offered on the basis that candidates already have the required school catering experience. Training is not provided; applicants must be able to carry out the duties from the outset. An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with safeguarding regulations.
