Are you an experienced School Caretaker looking for a new role? Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates. Aspire People are currently recruiting for School Caretakers to work on a full-time, temporary basis across Walsall. We are looking for dependable, hardworking individuals who take pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming school environment.
As a School Caretaker, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school site. The school will expect you to take on responsibilities much like a permanent member of staff, including:
- Carrying out general maintenance and repairs around the school grounds
- Litter picking and keeping outdoor areas tidy
- Completing odd jobs delegated by the site supervisor or school management
- Opening and closing the school building, including setting alarms and securing the site
- Working both independently and as part of a team to complete tasks safely and efficiently
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong practical and problem-solving skills who takes pride in their work. Previous caretaking or maintenance experience within a school setting is desirable, but not essential.
Typical working hours are full-time between 7.00am and 4.00pm, though these may vary from school to school. You must be flexible with the working hours as some schools require staff to work split shift patterns. For example, 6:00a.m. - 10:00a.m then return 2:00p.m. - 6:00p.m.
Please contact Sonya, Office & Technical Consultant for the Black Country, for more details. I will work closely with you to find a role that matches your skills and availability. Aspire People offer excellent rates of pay and full support throughout your placement.
Please note that applicants must have experience in maintenance or caretaking and hold a valid DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to pay £56.20 for a new one to be processed. Aspire People is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects every candidate to share this commitment. Placements are subject to appropriate Child Protection screening, including checks with former employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
