About the Role
Teaching Assistant – Year 1, Partington, Trafford, mainstream primary school. Immediate start, potential contract/permanent from September 2026. Competitive salary dependent on experience.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist the Year 1 teacher in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
- Provide 1:1 support and work with small groups to boost literacy and numeracy, focusing on phonics.
- Support children during targeted interventions to help progress in specific areas of development.
- Help manage the classroom environment by promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
- Monitor student progress, assist with assessments, and keep track of learning journeys.
- Support children with additional needs, ensuring they feel confident and engaged throughout the day.
What We're Looking For
- A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) or at least 6 months of experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge and experience of phonics and its application in early literacy development.
- Confidence in providing individualised support to children, both in group activities and 1:1 sessions.
- A patient, proactive, and flexible approach to supporting children with different learning needs.
- Excellent communication skills to work closely with the teacher and other staff members.
- A genuine passion for education and helping children grow academically and socially.
