Role: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

Pay: £90-£110 per day (dependent on experience)

This role offers the opportunity to provide tailored support to a Year 1 pupil with autism and additional needs. As a key part of the pupil's educational journey, you will provide vital support for their academic progress, emotional growth, and classroom integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Assist with learning activities and classwork set by the teacher
  • Promote communication, social skills, and emotional regulation
  • Support during transitions and maintain classroom routines
  • Provide personal care support when required
  • Follow and implement strategies developed by the teacher and SENCO
  • Track progress and provide feedback to school staff
  • Foster positive behaviour and active participation in lessons
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are adhered to at all times
Essential Requirements
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Prior experience in a UK primary school
  • Experience supporting children with autism and additional needs
  • Willingness to assist with personal care
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in a 1:1 support role
  • Autism-specific training or experience
  • Team Teach or behaviour management training
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies
