We are recruiting a committed and experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 8 pupil within a mainstream secondary school in Stockport. This is a long-term, full-time position supporting a student with SEND and significant behavioural needs.

Due to the school's location, the site is difficult to access via public transport, therefore drivers are strongly preferred.

The Role
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 8 student
  • Supporting learning, emotional regulation, and behaviour management
  • Applying Team Teach strategies and positive handling techniques where required
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Supporting the pupil both in class and during unstructured times
Essential Requirements
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant UK Bachelor Degree
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with behavioural challenges
  • Team Teach training is highly desirable (or significant experience using positive handling strategies)
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to pay for a new DBS
  • Ability to provide references covering the last 2 years
