A bespoke and specialist independent school in Solihull is seeking a full-time SEMH Construction Teacher to join their growing, supportive team. The Role:

This is a full-time teaching position, with the potential to become temp-to-perm for the right candidate. You will be expected to plan and deliver engaging Construction lessons tailored to meet the needs of students with varying ability levels and complex emotional backgrounds. The successful candidate will teach practical construction skills, potentially including carpentry, joinery, brickwork, painting and decorating, health and safety, and general multi-skills, while supporting students to develop confidence, resilience, employability skills, and positive attitudes towards learning.

What We're Looking For (preferably):

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or a recognised qualification in Construction, Carpentry, Joinery, Brickwork, Multi-Skills, or a related vocational subject
  • A minimum of 2 years UK teaching, tutoring, training, or industry experience will be considered in lieu of formal QTS
  • Demonstrated experience working with SEMH students, or young people with additional needs and behavioural challenges
  • Experience delivering vocational qualifications, practical learning programmes, or construction-based training
  • Strong understanding of workshop health and safety requirements
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset - strong interpersonal skills are essential
  • Commitment to nurturing student development, both academically and emotionally
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced significant barriers to education
