About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a supportive Alternative Provision that provides a practical, nurturing environment where students can thrive. As the Construction Teacher, you’ll deliver engaging vocational lessons that develop practical skills across a range of construction disciplines. You’ll use hands-on activities to build confidence, teamwork, resilience and independence while promoting safe working practices and positive behaviour. Working collaboratively with support staff and pastoral teams, you’ll create an engaging learning environment where students can achieve meaningful qualifications and prepare for future careers within the construction industry.
What We’re Looking For
- QTS or relevant construction qualifications with teaching or training experience
- Industry experience across one or more construction trades
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH or additional needs
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to motivate disengaged learners through practical learning
- A flexible, resilient approach and commitment to safeguarding
Desirable (but not essential)
- Assessing or vocational teaching qualifications
- Experience within Alternative Provision, PRUs or specialist education
- Knowledge of Functional Skills integration
- Training in restorative or de-escalation approaches
