The Role:
As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering planned lessons across a wide range of subjects, ensuring that students remain engaged and continue to make progress in the absence of their usual teacher. You will need to be flexible and comfortable working across different year groups and subjects, and able to adapt to varying classroom dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver lessons as set by the absent teacher, ensuring that students remain focused and productive
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management
- Provide students with clear instructions and ensure they stay on task
- Support students with their learning, answering questions and offering guidance where needed
- Ensure that all students complete the set work and provide feedback where appropriate
- Contribute to the overall positive atmosphere of the school by engaging with students and staff
- Maintain accurate records of work completed during lessons and report back to the absent teacher or relevant staff
- Work collaboratively with the wider school team, providing feedback on student progress and behaviour during cover lessons
What We’re Looking For:
- A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- Experience of teaching in a secondary school, ideally across a range of subjects
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students
- Adaptability and a proactive approach to teaching across different year groups and subjects
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
- A flexible and professional attitude, with a commitment to upholding the school’s values and expectations
