About the School

The school provides specialist education for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The school offers a structured and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships.

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide consistent support tailored to each student's individual needs.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH and complex needs
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support
  • Supporting students with ASD and communication needs
  • Helping pupils engage with classroom learning
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
  • Supporting students during lessons and throughout the school day
  • Following individual learning, support and behaviour plans
  • Working closely with teachers and wider support staff
  • Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

Who Are We Looking For?

We're interested in candidates with experience in education, care, support work or youth services.

Previous experience with any of the following would be highly beneficial:

  • SEND / SEMH schools
  • Autism / ASD
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Mental health
  • Complex needs
  • Residential care
  • Youth work
  • Children's services
  • Specialist education
  • Secure or custodial environments

You do not necessarily need previous school experience.

Candidates with a Psychology degree or related degree, combined with relevant experience or a genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs, are also encouraged to apply.
