The predicted salary is between 28800 - 43200 Β£ per year.

As an HLTA in an SEN school, you will support teaching and learning by delivering structured lessons, leading interventions and working closely with teaching staff to meet the individual needs of pupils. You will play a key role in supporting pupils' academic progress, emotional wellbeing and personal development. May be required to provide whole-class cover, support behaviour management strategies, and adapt learning to suit a wide range of abilities and needs.

Key Duties

  • Lead whole-class learning using pre-planned lessons
  • Support teachers with lesson preparation, delivery and assessment
  • Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group interventions
  • Support pupils with SEN including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, SLD and PMLD
  • Follow EHCPs and support individual learning and behaviour plans
  • Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social development
  • Monitor pupil progress and report feedback to teaching staff
  • Work collaboratively with SEN teams and external professionals
  • Maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

Candidate Requirements

  • HLTA qualification or substantial experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience working in SEN or specialist school settings
  • Confidence leading lessons and managing classroom behaviour
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
