Maths Teacher – Specialist SEMH Independent School (KS3-GCSE)
Location: Staffordshire
Full-Time | Monday to Friday |Term Time Only

We are proud to be working in partnership with an innovative and supportive independent special school in the Staffordshire area, seeking a Mathematics Teacher to join their team.

This is not a typical teaching role-it\’s a chance to be part of a child-centred, trauma-informed environment where relationships, trust, and creativity sit at the heart of everything.

About the School:
This independent specialist provision supports boys aged 11-17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many pupils also have additional SEND diagnoses, such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. The school is well-respected for its therapeutic, attachment-aware approach and its commitment to holistic development.

The curriculum includes Entry Level, Functional Skills, KS3, and GCSE Mathematics, tailored to suit individual learning journeys. Class sizes are small, with a high staff-to-student ratio and strong support from specialist Teaching Assistants.

The Role:
We are seeking a Mathematics Specialist who:
– Can build positive, trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced significant trauma or disruption.
– Is passionate about making maths relevant, accessible, and engaging at all levels-from foundational skills to GCSE.
– Can confidently manage challenging behaviour with empathy, patience, and resilience.
– Works collaboratively with therapy staff, SENCOs, and pastoral leads to support each learner\’s progress.
– Brings creativity and flexibility into the classroom, understanding that emotional wellbeing is key to academic success.
– Has a strong subject knowledge, but most importantly, sees themselves as a teacher of children first.

You\’ll also have the opportunity to shape wider school life, contributing to curriculum development, enrichment activities, and whole-school strategy. Your voice matters here.

This is a rare opportunity to work in an educational setting where you can truly make a difference-not just academically, but emotionally and socially-for young people who need it most.

If you are a qualified Maths teacher with a passion for inclusive, trauma-informed education, we\’d love to hear from you.
