Learning Support Specialist – Special Educational Needs, complex needs and social, emotional mental health – to start September!

Do you have experience of supporting children and young people with SEMH needs and associated behaviours that challenge?

I am currently recruiting for a bespoke alternative provision school in central Birmingham, they are looking to appoint two new Learning Support Specialists for young people with social emotional & mental health needs.

The school caters for children in KS3 and KS4 and they provide quality alternative provision, tailor made to each child\’s needs. The positions are potentially on a temporary to permanent basis as they would like to appoint for the right candidates. They are seeking people that are nurturing, resilient and flexible so they can adapt to their surroundings with confidence.

As a Learning Support Specialist you will be working alongside the class teacher and other Teaching Assistants supporting students with everyday school life. This school provides its children and young people with a varied and engaging curriculum, including many additional vocational subjects. The school require their staff to be positive and proactive and you must be an excellent team player.

I am very keen to speak with Learning Support Specialists, SEND Teaching Assistants, Support Workers and people who have a residential background, as you may be ideal for this position. A teaching and learning qualification would be ideal, however appropriate candidates will be considered on an individual basis.
