Aspire People are looking for experienced Teaching Assistants with a strong background supporting children and young people with SEMH and behavioural needs. We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked professionally on a 1:1 basis and are confident building positive relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, emotional difficulties or barriers to learning.
The Role:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour
- Building positive and trusting relationships
- Helping pupils re-engage with education and learning
- Implementing individual behaviour and support strategies
- Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions and unstructured periods
- Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs
- Promoting positive behaviour, confidence and independence
The Ideal Candidate:
- Professional experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
- Previous 1:1 experience is essential
- Experience within a school, PRU, alternative provision, residential or similar setting
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent way
- Strong understanding of boundaries and positive behaviour strategies
- Resilient, patient and emotionally intelligent approach
- Able to build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries
