Secondary Science Teacher – Flexible Opportunities Across Peterborough

Are you a Science teacher who enjoys bringing lessons to life, whether that's sparking debate in Physics, making Chemistry practical, or helping students connect with Biology in the real world? We're working closely with a number of secondary schools across Peterborough who are looking for confident, adaptable Science specialists to support their departments on a flexible basis. Whether you're an ECT looking to build classroom experience across different settings, or an experienced teacher who enjoys the variety that supply brings, these roles offer the chance to find what really suits you.

What the role looks like

  • You’ll be teaching General Science across KS3 and KS4, covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • In some schools, there may also be the opportunity to support KS5 classes, particularly for those with a subject specialism.
  • Each school is a little different, some will need short‑term cover, others are looking for longer‑term consistency, so there's real scope to find placements that match your teaching style and availability.

We’re particularly keen to hear from teachers who:

  • Can confidently deliver all three sciences at KS3 and KS4
  • Enjoy making Science accessible, engaging, and relevant
  • Are comfortable stepping into new classrooms and building rapport quickly
  • Hold QTS or a PGCE
  • Have KS5 experience (helpful, but not essential)

Benefits

  • Flexibility that actually works: choose when and where you teach
  • A mix of schools across Peterborough, so you’re not stuck in one environment if it’s not the right fit
  • Competitive daily rates
  • 100% joining bonus after your first 10 days
  • Opportunities to move into longer‑term or permanent roles if that’s your goal

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering well‑structured Science lessons aligned with the national curriculum
  • Managing classroom behaviour with confidence and consistency
  • Supporting students of varying abilities, including through practical and investigative work
  • Quickly adapting to different school settings and expectations

Additional Benefits

  • Referral bonus up to £250 for recommending teachers suitable for any of the roles we’re recruiting for
  • Enhanced DBS check and two years’ worth of references required for all candidates
