An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and trustworthy School Caretaker to join a school site team, playing a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. This position would suit someone who is practical, organised, and takes pride in ensuring buildings and outdoor areas are well maintained and fit for purpose.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the school premises are opened, secured, and checked daily
- Carrying out routine inspections of buildings, playgrounds, and communal areas
- Completing basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs
- Maintaining cleanliness and general order across the site
- Supporting the preparation of classrooms and halls for school activities and events
- Identifying and reporting health & safety concerns promptly
- Assisting with contractor access and monitoring works on site
- Upholding safeguarding procedures and site security at all times
Person
- Have proven experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role, ideally within a school or similar setting
- Be able to work independently and manage tasks effectively
- Demonstrate good awareness of health & safety practices
- Be physically capable of carrying out manual duties
- Be dependable, punctual, and flexible in approach
- Communicate clearly with staff, visitors, and external contractors
Role Information
This is an agency placement requiring an experienced caretaker able to carry out duties independently from day one. No training will be provided; applicants must be confident in all aspects of caretaking and site management.
