Are you an experienced PE Coach, Sports Coach, HLTA or PE specialist looking for an exciting opportunity within a primary school?

I'm currently recruiting for a fantastic school in Manchester (M9) who are looking for a confident and enthusiastic PE Coach / HLTA to take responsibility for PE and sporting activity across the school from September.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about sport and wants to make a real impact on children's physical development, confidence and wellbeing.

About the Role

You will be responsible for delivering PE across the school, following a detailed existing PE scheme which includes resources and videos to support planning and subject knowledge.

Alongside delivering PE lessons, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, delivering, assessing and evaluating PE lessons.
  • Supporting active playtime provision.
  • Developing and delivering extracurricular sports activities.
  • Running after-school sports clubs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until 4:00pm.
  • Supporting pupils at sporting fixtures, including occasional changes to working hours where required.
  • Organising and supporting the school's Sports Day.
  • Promoting physical activity, health and fitness across the school.
  • Supporting health, nurture and mentoring interventions.
  • Building relationships with local schools and helping organise sporting fixtures.
  • Managing PE equipment and resources.
  • Providing occasional lesson cover where required.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about sport and physical activity.
  • Confident delivering PE across different year groups.
  • Proactive and able to work independently.
  • Confident building strong relationships with children.
  • Comfortable supporting children with a range of behavioural, emotional and social needs.
  • Able to see behaviour as communication and take a nurturing, relationship-based approach.
  • A strong team player who is happy to get involved across the wider school.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 sports/coaching qualification or above.
  • At least 2 years' experience supporting the development of sport/physical activity with children.
  • Experience working with children who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
  • Knowledge of coaching across a range of sports.
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English, Maths and Science.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to attend extracurricular activities and sporting fixtures where required.

Desirable

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or above.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Previous experience working within a school.
  • Previous experience delivering PE lessons.

Working Pattern

The role is term-time only and includes:

  • Monday: After-school sports club until 4:00pm
  • Tuesday: After-school sports club until 4:00pm
  • Wednesday: Staff training until 4:30pm
  • Thursday: After-school sports club until 4:00pm
  • Friday: 2:00pm finish

There may also be occasional flexibility required around sporting fixtures and school events.
