Who Are We Looking For?
- Core subjects such as English, Maths or Science.
- Psychology or Educational Psychology.
- Special Educational Needs (SEN) or related subjects.
- Education or other relevant degree subjects.
Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential. This could include:
- Tutoring or private tuition.
- Volunteering with children or young people.
- School or university placement experience.
- Coaching or mentoring.
- Previous employment working with children or young people.
The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will gain valuable experience working within a secondary school environment while supporting students and classroom teachers.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting students academically across the curriculum.
- Working with students 1:1 and in small groups.
- Supporting students who may have SEN or additional learning needs.
- Assisting the class teacher with classroom activities and learning.
- Helping students remain engaged and focused during lessons.
- Providing additional support to students who require extra guidance.
- Building positive and professional relationships with students.
- Supporting the school in maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Following and reinforcing the school's behaviour policy and expectations.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other members of staff.
