Rate: £150 - £220 per day (dependent on experience)

We are working closely with a supportive and forward-thinking specialist school in Milton Keynes, seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to join their primary provision. The school supports up to 66 pupils overall, many of whom present with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Complex Needs, ADHD, PDA, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Within the Primary Division, a significant number of pupils are non-verbal or emergent communicators, requiring a highly nurturing, patient, and creative teaching approach. This role would suit a Teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to supporting communication, engagement, and emotional development alongside academic progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver highly differentiated, child-centred lessons appropriate for pupils with complex needs
  • Support pupils who are non-verbal or emergent communicators using alternative communication methods (e.g. visual supports, PECS, Makaton, AAC)
  • Create a calm, structured, and sensory-aware learning environment
  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation techniques
  • Work closely with LSAs, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Track progress through EHCP outcomes, small-step targets, and developmental milestones
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement, confidence, and communication

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching in the UK (essential)
  • Experience working with pupils with ASC and complex communication needs (highly desirable)
  • An understanding of alternative and augmentative communication approaches
  • A calm, consistent, and empathetic teaching style
  • Strong collaboration skills and a commitment to inclusive practice
