Aspire People are recruiting a Behaviour Specialist HLTA for a September start in secondary schools across Torfaen. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on building relationships, supporting emotional regulation, and helping learners re-engage and succeed as schools prepare for the new academic year.

The Role

  • Targeted behaviour support - Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions to support emotional regulation, engagement and readiness to learn.
  • Positive behaviour & de-escalation - Use consistent strategies to reduce disruption and support pupils back into the classroom.
  • HLTA classroom responsibilities - Lead learning activities, deliver planned sessions and provide high-quality cover where required.
  • Pastoral support - Support pupils with routines, transitions and reintegration following incidents or time out of class.
  • Collaborative working - Contribute to behaviour plans alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SEN/ALN staff.
  • Safeguarding - Record and report concerns in line with school safeguarding procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be calm, resilient and proactive, with a genuine commitment to supporting young people. You should have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in an education or support setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Confidence leading learning and interventions at HLTA level.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-focused approach.

Desirable (but not essential): Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, EBD, mental health needs, challenging behaviour, anxiety and/or ALN.
