The successful candidate will ideally have a Level 3 qualification or above alongside strong experience working with children and delivering sport or physical activity.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll take responsibility for PE provision across the school, using the school’s existing PE scheme and resources, while also helping to develop the wider sporting offer. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality PE lessons
  • Planning, assessing and evaluating pupil progress
  • Supporting active play provision
  • Running extracurricular sports clubs
  • Supporting Monday, Tuesday and Thursday clubs until 4:00pm
  • Attending sporting fixtures where required

  • Getting involved in wider school and community events

What We’re Looking For

This role would be particularly suited to an experienced Level 3+ PE/Sports professional or HLTA who is confident working within a primary school environment. You’ll need:

  • Level 3 sports/coaching qualification or above
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with children through sport/physical activity
  • Experience supporting children who have experienced ACEs
  • Knowledge of a range of sports
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence managing groups of children
  • A positive and nurturing approach to behaviour
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English, Maths and Science
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one

Previous school experience, a Level 3 TA qualification and/or First Aid qualification would be beneficial.

Thursday: After-school sports club until 4:00pm
Friday: 2:00pm finish

Some flexibility will be required for fixtures and occasional school events.

Potential Permanent Contract

The school is looking for someone who can make a genuine contribution to the school and become part of the team. The initial opportunity will be through Aspire People, with the potential for the school to offer a permanent contract after a few weeks if both the school and candidate feel the role is the right fit. This provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to settle into the school, demonstrate their skills and experience, and make sure the position is right for them before potentially moving onto a permanent contract.

The school is keen to secure the right person and may begin interviewing from next week. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please be aware that you may need to be available to interview at short notice.
