We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Milton Keynes. The school caters for children and young people aged 4 to 19 with a range of SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication difficulties, and complex care requirements. This role is ideal for someone with a background in care or experience supporting individuals with personal care needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex SEND needs
  • Support students with personal care and daily routines where required
  • Assist learners with alternative communication methods, including non-verbal approaches
  • Help manage emotional regulation and challenging behaviours calmly and confidently
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and therapy teams to promote independence and inclusion

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, young people, or adults with SEND or in a care setting
  • Confidence supporting students with personal care needs
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Understanding of or interest in alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton)
  • A proactive, team-focused approach and willingness to adapt to individual needs
