We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Milton Keynes. The school caters for children and young people aged 4 to 19 with a range of SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication difficulties, and complex care requirements. This role is ideal for someone with a background in care or experience supporting individuals with personal care needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex SEND needs
- Support students with personal care and daily routines where required
- Assist learners with alternative communication methods, including non-verbal approaches
- Help manage emotional regulation and challenging behaviours calmly and confidently
- Work collaboratively with teaching and therapy teams to promote independence and inclusion
Requirements:
- Experience working with children, young people, or adults with SEND or in a care setting
- Confidence supporting students with personal care needs
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Understanding of or interest in alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton)
