Here at Aspire People, we are seeking confident, experienced, and dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Specialist Teaching Assistants to join our dynamic support staff team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who may present with challenging behaviour, using your expertise to help them engage in their education and thrive in a supportive, nurturing environment.
About the school:
A specialist SEMH school that provides a safe and structured environment for students with SEMH, offering a holistic approach to learning and personal development. Our dedicated staff work collaboratively to create tailored learning plans that focus on individual needs, ensuring every child is given the opportunity to succeed.
The Role:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
- Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour, promoting positive coping strategies and self-regulation.
- Work closely with teachers to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of social skills, emotional literacy, and life skills programmes.
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours and support students through difficult situations.
About You:
- Have experience working with students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour, ideally in a school or education setting.
- Possess strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students.
- Are confident in using de-escalation strategies and managing challenging situations in a calm and constructive manner.
- Have a proactive and empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for supporting young people in their learning journey.
- A relevant qualification (such as Team Teach or similar) would be an advantage but is not essential.
