Qualified Secondary Humanities Teacher (UK QTS)

The Role

As a Qualified Secondary Humanities Teacher, you will primarily be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality lessons across the Humanities curriculum, including History, Geography, and PSHE. You will teach Key Stage 3 and 4 students, ensuring that they not only meet their academic potential but also develop a well-rounded understanding of the world around them. Your main focus will be on teaching the curriculum, but you will also be supported by a team of experienced Teaching Assistants who are dedicated to supporting students with their SEMH needs. The ideal candidate will have a flexible and patient approach, with a commitment to making a positive impact on students who may have faced difficulties in traditional education settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated Humanities lessons.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student well-being and academic achievement.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to help students overcome barriers to learning and engage with the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to provide individualized support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Track and monitor student progress, providing feedback to students, parents, and the school leadership team.

  • Promote the school's values of respect, inclusivity, and empathy within the classroom and school community.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Secondary Humanities Teacher (UK QTS or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching Humanities subjects (History, Geography, PSHE) at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and experience working with students with additional learning or behavioural challenges.
  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
