Part-Time | 3 Days Per Week | September - Christmas 2026

Aspire People are recruiting on behalf of one of our valued partnership academy schools in Newcastle-under-Lyme for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to a young person's education by providing 1:1 support within a welcoming and inclusive secondary school environment. The role is three days per week and is expected to run from September until the Christmas break 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

The Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student, helping them access learning across the curriculum.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
  • Support the student's academic progress, confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to deliver personalised support.
  • Encourage engagement and positive behaviour both in and out of the classroom.
  • Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of the student.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • A calm, patient and caring approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to motivate and support students to achieve their potential.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable but not essential.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
