Do you thrive in supporting pupils who need calm, consistent, and confident behaviour support to succeed in school? Aspire People are recruiting for a Behaviour Specialist HLTA to work in the RCT area from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for an HLTA who can build positive relationships, de-escalate challenging situations, and help learners re-engage with education.

The Role

As a Behaviour Specialist HLTA, you'll play a key part in supporting pupils' learning and wellbeing - working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SLT to improve behaviour outcomes and create a safe, structured environment.

  • Targeted behaviour support: Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions to improve engagement, emotional regulation, and classroom readiness.
  • De-escalation & positive behaviour strategies: Apply consistent approaches to reduce disruption and support pupils back into learning.
  • HLTA classroom support: Lead learning activities, deliver planned sessions, and provide high-quality cover where required.
  • Pastoral input: Support pupils with routines, transitions, and reintegration plans following incidents or time out of class.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside teachers, ALN/SEN staff and pastoral teams to support individual behaviour plans and strategies.
  • Safeguarding-first practice: Record and report concerns in line with school policy and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is resilient, calm under pressure, and genuinely passionate about helping young people succeed. You should have:

  • Experience working with children/young people in an education setting (secondary desirable)
  • Strong behaviour management and the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Confidence leading learning, interventions, or cover as an HLTA
  • A proactive, team-focused approach and excellent communication skills

Desirable (but not essential): Experience supporting learners with SEMH, EBD, mental health needs, challenging behaviour, anxiety, and/or ALN.
