Aspire People is working in partnership with a highly specialised provision in Bedfordshire, dedicated to supporting young women who are currently unable to attend mainstream education. These students have experienced various forms of disruption in their early lives, which often present as strong behavioural challenges and a mistrust of authority figures. Class sizes are small (maximum of 10 students) and individual ability levels vary depending on personal circumstances.

The successful Maths Teacher will bring creativity, structure and patience into the classroom, delivering Maths in a way that builds confidence, resilience and real-life problem-solving skills, while maintaining a calm and consistent approach to behaviour management.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Maths in a way that builds confidence, resilience and real-life problem-solving skills for young women with trauma and adversity histories.
  • Maintain a calm and consistent approach to behaviour management in a specialist provision with small class sizes (up to 10 students).
  • Bring creativity, structure and patience to the classroom to support learners with diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to support students with complex emotional, behavioural or SEND needs.
  • Foster trust and maintain strong, respectful boundaries with students.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with recent experience teaching Maths at secondary or upper primary level.
  • Proven ability to deliver the Maths National Curriculum or functional/alternative Maths pathways in a flexible and engaging way.
  • Experience supporting students with complex emotional, behavioural or SEND needs.
  • Confidence to build trust and maintain strong, respectful boundaries.
  • Collaborative and reflective approach to working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Valid driving licence (essential, due to the location of the provision).
