Overview
Aspire People are recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Primary Teacher to join a supportive specialist primary setting in South Manchester, working with pupils aged 4-11. This role is open to ECTs / newly qualified teachers looking to begin their career in a nurturing SEND environment, as well as mainstream primary teachers who are keen to move into specialist education and develop their skills supporting pupils with additional needs.
The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), moderate learning difficulties and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Pupils benefit from small class sizes, clear routines and a calm, inclusive approach that helps them feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
You will work closely with an experienced team of teaching assistants, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals, delivering personalised learning and supporting both academic progress and emotional development. The school offers a structured environment, strong leadership support and ongoing SEND-focused training to help staff succeed in their roles.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the primary curriculum
- Adapt teaching to meet individual pupil needs and learning styles
- Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
- Implement EHCP targets, individual learning plans and support strategies
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider SEND team
- Support pupils' communication, independence and confidence
- Monitor progress and celebrate pupil achievements
Requirements
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (ECTs / new QTS graduates encouraged to apply)
- Mainstream primary teachers are welcome, with full support provided for the transition into SEND
- A patient, calm and resilient approach
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for inclusion and supporting pupils with additional needs
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
