About the Role:
Aspire People are excited to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant for a fantastic school in Shrewsbury. This full-time, long-term role offers a unique opportunity to support young learners in a vibrant, nurturing environment. The school is a two-form entry primary school with a strong focus on inclusion and supporting children with additional needs, including SEN (Special Educational Needs).

You will be working alongside experienced teachers to deliver high-quality education, supporting the development of both academic and social skills in a class with a diverse range of needs. Key Responsibilities:

Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons to Key Stage 1 pupils, especially in literacy and numeracy.

Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs, including SEN support and intervention work.

Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and monitor student progress.

Support pupils during interventions aimed at boosting their social, emotional, and academic development.

Help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel valued and confident.

Assist during break times and lunchtime to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.

Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to ensure effective communication and teamwork.

Key Requirements:

Experience working with children, ideally within a Key Stage 1 setting, is essential.

A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, or similar) is preferred, though experience working with children is equally valued.

Experience or interest in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.

Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with children at their level.

Patient, caring, and proactive approach to working with children.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support a positive classroom environment.

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
