About the Role:
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at a well-established primary school in Burton Latimer. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will make a real difference to the lives of children within a mainstream school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support for students with a variety of SEN, both in and outside the classroom, as well as supporting as a main classroom TA.
- Assist in delivering tailored learning plans and activities that meet the needs of individual students.
- Support children in developing social, emotional, and communication skills.
- Help students with personal care when required.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to track progress and support students' development.
- Foster a safe and nurturing environment, helping students to feel confident and engaged in their learning.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student progress and well-being.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, particularly supporting students with high SEN needs, is essential.
- A good understanding of SEN strategies and approaches, including experience with ASD, ADHD, and other complex needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour and provide a positive learning environment.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy and varied school environment.
- A full driving license and access to a car is essential for this role due to the school's location and needs.
