Aspire People are recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in North Manchester, supporting pupils within a specialist Inclusion Base. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is confident taking responsibility for a provision and working closely with a lead teacher to create engaging learning opportunities for pupils with additional needs.
The Role:
- Taking day-to-day responsibility for the Inclusion Base
- Leading and supporting the team working within the provision
- Planning and delivering engaging sessions for a small group of pupils
- Supporting pupils with SEND and communication needs
- Helping pupils develop confidence, engagement and independence
- Supporting phonics, reading and wider curriculum activities
- Adapting learning and activities to meet individual pupil needs
- Monitoring and celebrating pupil progress
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Working closely with the lead teacher, SENCO and wider school team
- Helping develop the learning environment and resources
The Ideal Candidate:
- Holds an HLTA qualification or equivalent higher-level education qualification
- Experienced working within a primary school setting
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable
- Experience with autism, communication needs or specialist provision would be beneficial
- Confident leading other staff and taking responsibility for a provision
- Strong understanding of child development and learning
- Calm, nurturing and consistent approach
- Able to use initiative and work independently
ECTs or suitably qualified education professionals with an equivalent level of qualification and the right experience may also be considered.
The Opportunity:
- 37.5 hours per week
- Term-time only
- Long-term position through Aspire People
- Potential for a permanent contract after 12 weeks for the right candidate, subject to both the school and candidate being happy with the placement
