About the Role: We support a number of SEN and alternative education settings across Birmingham and have been asked to recruit a Health & Social Care Teacher/Tutor. You will deliver engaging and personalised Health & Social Care lessons, adapting your teaching to meet the individual needs, abilities and learning styles of each learner. You will work closely with support staff and other professionals to support EHCP outcomes, monitor progress, build confidence and promote positive learning outcomes. Lessons may be delivered on a one-to-one or small-group basis, depending on the needs of the setting and learners. The role would suit someone who is passionate about supporting young people and adults with SEND and can make learning practical, engaging and accessible.

What We're Looking For:

  • Relevant teaching, training or Health & Social Care qualification
  • Experience delivering Health & Social Care or related vocational subjects
  • Experience working with Post-16 learners and/or learners with SEND
  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet individual needs and abilities
  • A flexible, patient and resilient approach with a strong commitment to safeguarding
  • Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS or equivalent
  • Health & Social Care teaching or assessing experience
  • Experience working with EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Experience supporting learners with additional needs, challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
  • Functional Skills experience or knowledge of vocational education pathways
