This large primary school in Oldham, Greater Manchester is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to support students across Key Stages 1 and 2 who are at risk of exclusion or disengagement. The school prioritises inclusion and runs several intervention programmes aimed at supporting students' social, emotional and behavioural development.
The Behaviour Mentor will work closely with the pastoral and SEND teams to reduce disruption and improve pupil conduct. The role involves in-class support, small group work and mentoring sessions outside the classroom, often with vulnerable or high-need students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted mentoring for students with behavioural and emotional needs
- Lead small intervention groups and structured restorative sessions
- Supervise pupils in the school's internal isolation or reflection unit when required
- Liaise with parents/carers and pastoral leaders to ensure a joined-up approach
- Track and report on pupil engagement and progress
Who We're Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth services or mental health settings
- Confidence in de-escalation, setting clear boundaries, and promoting positive behaviour
- Understanding of behaviour management techniques and safeguarding procedures
