How to prepare for a job interview at Aspire People

Know Your EYFS Inside Out

Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Be ready to discuss how you can support children's learning and development, especially for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This will show that you're not just qualified, but also passionate about helping every child thrive.

Showcase Your SEND Experience

Since the role involves working with non-verbal children, be prepared to share specific examples of your experience supporting pupils with SEND. Talk about strategies you've used in the past, such as one-to-one support or using visual aids, to demonstrate your capability and understanding of their needs.

Familiarise Yourself with Makaton

While Makaton experience isn't essential, having a basic understanding can set you apart. Consider learning some key signs or phrases before the interview. This shows initiative and a willingness to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of the children you'll be working with.

Prepare Questions for Them

Interviews are a two-way street! Prepare thoughtful questions about the school's approach to EYFS and SEND. This not only shows your interest in the role but also helps you gauge if the school is the right fit for you. Plus, it gives you a chance to engage with the interviewers and make a memorable impression.
