We are actively working with a fantastic school who are seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join their Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in driving excellence across Key Stage 3.

This is a significant leadership opportunity for an experienced middle leader, current Assistant Headteacher, or an outstanding practitioner who is ready to step into senior leadership. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine strategic leadership with classroom practice, allowing you to remain connected to teaching whilst helping to shape the wider direction of the school. Approximately 50% of the role will involve senior leadership responsibilities, with the remaining 50% dedicated to teaching within your specialist subject area of Science, Mathematics or Physical Education.

As Assistant Headteacher, you will be a highly visible leader who is passionate about ensuring every pupil receives an exceptional educational experience. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to drive standards, improve outcomes and ensure that Key Stage 3 provision is ambitious, inclusive and aspirational. You will have a particular focus on ensuring pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally during these crucial years, supporting them to become confident, resilient and successful learners.

The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the strategic leadership of the school and will play a leading role in shaping a culture where high expectations, strong relationships and a relentless focus on achievement underpin everything we do.

  • Provide strategic leadership for Key Stage 3.
  • Lead initiatives that improve teaching, learning and curriculum delivery.
  • Drive high standards of attainment, progress, behaviour and attendance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of education through lesson visits, learning walks, work scrutiny and data analysis.
  • Support and challenge colleagues to ensure consistently high standards across the school.
  • Lead staff development and professional learning initiatives.
  • Contribute to school self‑evaluation and improvement planning.
  • Work closely with pastoral and curriculum leaders to remove barriers to learning.
  • Develop systems and strategies that support vulnerable learners and promote inclusion.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Act as a key ambassador for the school's values, vision and aspirations.
