Aspire are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. If you have a strong background in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and are passionate about helping them succeed, we want to hear from you!

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be pivotal in ensuring that students with a range of additional needs receive the support they require to access the curriculum and thrive in a positive learning environment. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to deliver tailored support and foster an inclusive approach to learning.

Key Duties

  • Provide direct support to students with SEN on an individual or small group basis
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Help students engage with learning activities and encourage independent work
  • Support students' emotional, social, and behavioural development
  • Maintain clear, accurate records of student progress and challenges
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure a holistic approach to student care

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an educational setting
  • A strong understanding of different SEN conditions, including autism, learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and physical disabilities
  • Ability to create and maintain a supportive and nurturing environment for students
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
  • Patience, empathy, and flexibility in adapting to the individual needs of students
  • A proactive and positive approach to problem‐solving

Desirable Qualifications

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of current educational strategies for supporting SEN students
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and learning tools for SEN
  • Training in areas such as Autism Awareness, Safeguarding, or First Aid
