SEN Teaching Assistant - South Birmingham SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School 📍 South Birmingham 🕒 Full Time | 5 Days Per Week 📅 Long-Term Opportunity 💷 Competitive Daily Rate 🚀 Start ASAP Are you an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term role? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in South Birmingham. This is a full-time, 5-day-per-week position, providing support to pupils with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and socially. The Role: Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs. Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to deliver tailored learning support. Support children with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs. Adapt learning activities to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum. Encourage independence, confidence and positive classroom participation. Support pupils during lessons, interventions, breaktimes and school activities. Help manage behaviour positively and consistently in line with school policies. Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents where required. Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to help them achieve their full potential. The Ideal Candidate: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting. A caring, patient and nurturing approach. Good understanding of SEND and inclusive classroom practices. Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable but not essential. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
