Aspire People are currently recruiting for an Autism Specialist Teacher to work within a specialist school setting in Leicester. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher who has a strong understanding of autism and is passionate about creating a positive, supportive learning environment for pupils with additional needs.
You will work closely with pupils who have autism and a range of associated needs, adapting lessons and communication approaches to ensure every child can access learning and make progress.
The Role
- Deliver engaging and accessible lessons tailored to pupils with autism and additional needs
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning and communication needs
- Support pupils with sensory needs, emotional regulation and social development
- Work alongside teaching assistants and other professionals to provide consistent support
- Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage their confidence and independence
- Maintain a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements
- QTS is essential
- Previous experience working with children with autism or complex SEN
- Strong understanding of autism and individualized teaching approaches
- Experience working within a primary or specialist education setting
- A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and supporting pupil wellbeing
