A specialist SEND school is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Additional Needs Support Assistant to support pupils with SLD, PMLD and autism.
The Role:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Deliver planned learning activities and adapt support to individual needs
- Assist with personal care, including toileting, dressing and eating
- Support therapy programmes and administer medication following training
- Encourage communication using Makaton, PECS and assistive technology
- Promote social, emotional, physical and cognitive development
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Support positive behaviour strategies and physical intervention where trained
- Prepare classroom resources and maintain a stimulating environment
- Support pupils during snack times, outdoor learning, trips and off-site activities
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents and external professionals
- Support Post-16 pupils in developing independent living skills
