A well-established school is seeking an experienced Kitchen Assistant / School Caterer to join its catering team and support the delivery of a high-quality, compliant and efficient school food service. This is a busy, fast-paced school kitchen and the successful candidate must be able to step into the role with prior school catering experience and a strong understanding of working within an educational setting.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the preparation, cooking and service of meals in a school environment
- Assisting with food preparation in line with set menus and portion control requirements
- Serving pupils and staff in a professional and friendly manner
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen and dining areas
- Following food safety, allergen and health & safety procedures at all times
- Supporting stock control, deliveries and basic kitchen administration as required
- Working effectively as part of a school catering team to meet service times and operational demands
Qualifications
- Have previous experience working within a school kitchen or educational catering setting
- Hold a good working knowledge of food hygiene, allergen awareness and health & safety procedures
- Be reliable, organised and able to work efficiently under pressure during service times
- Be confident working with children and within a safeguarding-led environment
- Be able to follow instructions, menus and procedures accurately
