SEND Teaching Assistant Opportunities – St Helens Special Schools Resource Bases and Alternative Provision.
September 2026 starts.
Aspire People is working with specialist SEND schools, resource provisions and alternative education settings across St Helens, recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants.
Whether you already have experience within SEND education or have supported children in care, youth work, residential settings or similar environments, we would love to hear from you.
Every day is different, and every achievement – no matter how small – can make a lasting difference.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions.
- Support pupils both in the classroom and around the school environment.
- Deliver sensory, communication and life-skills activities.
- Promote independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist with personal care where required (not all roles).
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and wider multidisciplinary teams.
- Record progress and contribute to individual support plans.
- What We’re Looking For
- Experience in education, SEND, care, support work, youth work or childcare.
- Calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
- Passionate about inclusive education and supporting individual needs.
- Strong communicators who enjoy working as part of a team.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Able to provide professional references and complete an Enhanced DBS check if required.
