Aspire People are currently recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in South West London for an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist to join their dedicated pastoral and SEND team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning, develop their independence and achieve their full potential within an educational setting.

The Role

As the school's Occupational Therapist, you will work closely with pupils, teachers, SENCO, pastoral staff, families and external professionals to identify and support students with a range of additional needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing students' functional, sensory, physical and occupational needs.
  • Developing and implementing individualised therapy programmes.
  • Providing practical strategies to support students' access to learning and participation in school life.
  • Working with pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties and physical or developmental needs.
  • Advising teaching and support staff on appropriate interventions and reasonable adjustments.
  • Monitoring and evaluating students' progress and adapting programmes where required.
  • Working collaboratively with the school's SENCO, pastoral team and wider multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Providing advice and guidance to parents/carers where appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential records and reports.

About You

  • Hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be registered with the relevant professional body.
  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Have a strong understanding of SEND and the barriers that can affect students' learning and development.
  • Be confident working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents and other professionals.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be proactive, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Be organised and able to manage a varied caseload effectively.
  • Have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one through Aspire People.
